Xuantian Christmas Birthday Celebration Invitation

The Northern Emperor Xuan Tian Shang Di is one of the Four Holy Lords of the Northern Pole under the Zi Wei Great Emperor, the Lord of All Stars. He symbolizes the Black Tortoise of the Northern Palace among the constellations and is the great Taoist deity who governs the North. The North belongs to Water in the Five Elements, and the North is colored black, which is why Shang Di wears black robes. Xuan Tian Shang Di's feet tread on a turtle and a snake, which is the form of the Black Tortoise. He holds the Seven-Star Sword and is revered as a deity who subdues demons and dispels disasters. He possesses divine powers to eliminate calamities, resolve difficulties, control water, resist fire, protect military fortunes, and extend longevity.

The Black Ring offerings to Xuan Tian Shang Di are inspired by the ancestral temple "Shou Zhen Temple" at Ali Mountain. Shou Zhen Temple is located in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area and was established in 1945 during the Japanese colonial era in Taiwan, with a history of nearly a hundred years. Besides the magnificent mountain scenery, Shou Zhen Temple also has a miraculous sight known as "Divine Butterflies Wishing Longevity." Before Xuan Tian Shang Di's birthday on the third day of the third lunar month, colorful butterflies fly to the temple and alight on the statue of the deity. They neither eat nor fly away until after the celebration, when they depart on their own. Legend has it that Xuan Tian Shang Di once saved a butterfly immortal, and every year on Xuan Tian Shang Di's birthday, she sends immortal butterflies to offer birthday wishes as a token of gratitude.

When the Marshal founded the Golden Ring, he instructed, "One year for Songboling in spring and summer, one year for Alishan in autumn and winter." This meant he hoped for pilgrimages to Shou Tian Palace in Songboling one year and Zhen Wu Palace in Alishan the next. The opportunity arose to lead believers in venerating Taoist deities and embracing the spirit of Taoist star worship. He instructed them to respectfully invite the "Da Ling" from Shou Tian Palace to assist in the path to salvation and to invite the "Hei Ling Qi" from Zhen Wu Palace. However, after eight years, they had not received the divine approval of Zhen Wu Di Gong. After enthronement, it was time to travel to Alishan again. Upon inquiring about the "Hei Ling Qi" once more, they still did not receive consent. Suddenly, seeing a row of subsidiary deities nearby, a flash of inspiration struck: they should assist the Golden Ring through the deities themselves. Upon asking, they received six consecutive affirmative responses, thus resolving their confusion after many years.
