五營將軍

Five Camps General

Five divine armies repel demons · 16th day of the fifth lunar month
The Five Camp Generals, also known as the Five Camp Marshals, Five Camp Soldiers, etc., are collectively referred to as the Five Camps. They are important guardian deities in Taoism and folk beliefs, responsible for protecting temples and devotees. The Five Camps consist of five divine armies: the East Camp (green flag), South Camp (red flag), West Camp (white flag), North Camp (black flag), and Central Altar (yellow flag), which defend against malevolent forces.
There are many different beliefs about who the Five Camp Divine Generals are and what their surnames are. In order of "East, Southeast, West, North, Center," this temple uses "Zhang, Xiao, Liu, and Lian" as the surnames of the Five Camp Generals.
The "Five Camp Banners" are not only the main symbolic objects of the Inner Five Camps, signifying "Five Camp soldiers and horses are present," but also the ritual implements used by the Marshal when descending to command troops. They are typically used in conjunction with the "Five Treasures."
