Tiger Lord is a deity in Taoism depicted as a tiger. Ancient people believed that tigers, under the command of Earth Gods, possessed divine power and could protect common folk. Popular sayings like "Tiger Lord bites money in" convey its ability to attract wealth, leading many believers to associate Tiger Lord with financial prosperity.
The Golden Ring Tiger Lord originates from two places, one being the ancestral temple XIngang Fengtian Temple. Legend has it that when Emperor Jiaqing toured Taiwan, he dreamt of being harassed by demons and monsters. Suddenly, a deity appeared to save him and repelled the demons. After waking up, Emperor Jiaqing visited the Zhaojingtang Earth God Temple and discovered that the Tiger Lord under the table was the deity who saved him. He was bestowed the title "Tiger Scholar" and was the only Tiger Lord in Taiwan to wear a golden flower and be placed on the main altar.
