Hexagram interpretation:
"Jian" means gradual progress in order. The Xun trigram (upper trigram) represents trees; the Gen trigram (lower trigram) represents mountains. Together, they signify trees growing on a mountain. Trees naturally grow roots first, then gradually develop trunks and leaves to flourish, signifying gradual progress. Furthermore, the Gen trigram represents stillness, and the Xun trigram represents yielding. Both also imply orderly advancement. Therefore, this hexagram is named "Jian."
