According to the "Taiyi Jiuku Huishen Miaojing," it is said: "In the Eastern Land of Everlasting Joy, there is the greatly compassionate and benevolent one. Taiyi Jiuku Tianzun transforms himself into countless beings, like grains of sand, responding to all things that call out. He may reside in celestial palaces, descend to the human world, dwell in hell, or subdue demons. He may appear as celestial youths and jade maidens, emperors and sages, heavenly lords and true men, vajra gods and kings, demon kings and powerful deities, celestial masters and Taoist priests, imperial lords and the Elder Lord, celestial physicians and功曹 (officials), men or women, civil or military officials, grand marshals, teachers and meditation masters, wind masters and rain masters. His divine powers are immeasurable, and his meritorious deeds are endless. He seeks out those in suffering upon hearing their cries and transforms himself according to the needs of all beings." This means that for the sake of responding to suffering by hearing cries, he manifests in myriad forms. Taiyi Jiuku Tianzun resides at the head of the Nine Heavens. He is supremely holy and benevolent, exceedingly compassionate and loving, riding a celestial chariot pulled by nine lions, radiating auspicious light from a hundred treasures, and guiding the ephemeral beings with his transformed manifestations.

And in Investiture of the Gods, he is the Crown Prince who was reborn from lotus flowers and returned flesh to his mother and bone to his father! He is his teacher and benevolent father.
