Hexagram interpretation:
"Dui" means "joy." In terms of its hexagram structure, the upper and lower trigrams are identical, with one yin line positioned above two yang lines. From the perspective of the I Ching's principles, "yang" represents strength and nobility, while "yin" represents softness and humility. Combined, this signifies a humble and weak yin line being elevated and placed above two noble and strong yang lines. Naturally, this brings great joy, which is the meaning of "Dui." On another note, the Dui hexagram represents a marsh or lake. Marshes and lakes inherently nourish all things and bring joy to them. In this hexagram, both the upper and lower trigrams are Dui; the stacking of Dui hexagrams signifies a double joy of nourishment upon nourishment. This is also the meaning of "Dui." Therefore, this hexagram is called "Dui."
