The Big Dipper refers to the Big Dipper constellation, which is located north of the Taiwei star. Folklore says that the Big Dipper consists of seven celestial maidens, who are the weaving maidens in the sky. They are highly skilled weavers and can create beautiful colorful clouds. The youngest weaving maiden, "Yaoguang," fell in love with a farmer named Niu Lang from the mortal world and had children with him. She was then taken back to heaven by the Queen Mother of the West, who permitted her to meet Niu Lang once a year on July 7th via a magpie bridge built over the celestial river that separated them.
The other six elder sisters, along with Zhinv, are collectively known as the "Seven Celestial Maidens," revered as the guardian deities of young children. They vow to care for children in the world until they reach adulthood, protecting all destinies under heaven.
Qixi, also known as the Festival of Seeking Skills, commemorates the Weaver Girl and the Cowherd. Jin Huan's enshrined Seven Maidens Mother originates from the Kai Long Temple in Fucheng and still preserves the custom of preparing food for six-year-olds. From the grand procession to the seven blessings, they are: "Tianshu - Blessings for smooth sailing, Dixuan - Blessings for a harmonious family and prosperous descendants, Renji - Blessings for calming spirits and peace of mind, Shiquan - Blessings for academic and career success, Yuheng - Blessings for achieving goals, Kaiyang - Blessings for good health, and Yaoguang - Blessings for abundant popularity."
