The upper trigram is Kan, representing \"water\"; the lower trigram is Dui, representing \"marsh.\" This forms the image of a marsh that receives water. We know that the capacity of a marsh is fixed. Too much water will overflow and cause harm; too little water will dry up and be useless. All marshes must contain an appropriate amount of water to be able to serve their purpose of absorption or irrigation. That is, their capacity is moderate. This is the meaning of \"Jie.\" This implies that one's attitude in dealing with the world must be moderate. Excess or deficiency is equally improper. Looking again at the hexagram's structure: from bottom to top, the first and second lines are yang, the third and fourth lines are yin, the fifth line becomes yang again, and the uppermost line becomes yin.     Nie Zheng, alone, assassinated the corrupt official Han Wei of the state of Han to avenge Yan Zhongzi. After accomplishing his mission, to avoid implicating his family and friends, Nie Zheng disfigured his face and died tragically while upholding his integrity, demonstrating a selfless sacrifice for the greater good. This hexagram signifies: On one's destiny: A change in illness will lead to misfortune; praying to heaven and earth for peace will bring safety, and it is advisable to fulfill vows. When traveling: Slow progress is acceptable. Family fortune: There will be disputes, but eventual good fortune. Marriage: This is a harmonious hexagram, signifying pairs of men and women; marriage is easily achieved. The hexagram is harmonious, but within harmony, there is conflict. The \"self\" overcomes the \"other,\" so one must use the right approach to pursue her. Otherwise, it will burden the family.
