They were ranked among the eighteen members of the eighteen water-controlling immortals who patrol the waters and assist Mazu in rescuing those lost at sea. They are respectfully called \"Tongxian Ling N\u00fc.\" \"Xin Bu Yang Bo\" (a calm heart that does not raise waves) is a virtue that Jin Huan Mazu often encourages people to cultivate. In modern times, Mazu is proficient in all matters and is considered an almighty goddess in the hearts of the people.
